When caring for leather, never expose the leather to liquid or high humidity. This can cause the leather to discolor or damage the dye. Don’t allow your leather furniture to sit in the sun, because it can cause fading. Clean your furniture every six months. Using saddle soap or a water based leather cleaner. These cleaners will help remove dirt and stains.

Most leather can be cleaned using mild water based cleaners, except suede. Try testing a small area that can not be seen to see if the cleaner will damage the furniture. Be gentle when cleaning your furniture. You have paid a lot of money and it should be taken care of.

To clean suede, use a cleaning cloth. This cloth has a tacky feeling to it and you can get it from most leather cleaning suppliers. The cloth will scrape the soil from the furniture and remove dark and shiny spots. Make sure that the cloth you use is the same color as the furniture you are using it on. Also add a light coat of aerosol suede protector after you finish cleaning the furniture.

If you take care of your furniture carefully and regularly, it will remain looking like new for years and years to come.
